Finished Painted Sign at Sweetleaf

So earlier I finished up this sign project for Sweetleaf, over in Willamsburg. I've been a bit busy, but I wanted to finally post the images of the final work. If anybody wants to see it in person, head on over to the shop on 135 Kent Street, a couple blocks down from the Bedford Ave. stop on the L train.

And here are a number of detail shots around the sign.

And my signature right at the end.

In Progress Painting at Sweetleaf

I'm currently working on painting a sign on the ramp of Sweetleaf in Williamsburg. It's been a while since I've updated anything, so I thought I'd share a few pictures of the work in progress.
I haven't done any artwork in public since I was in undergrad. It's been strange having people walk by and complement me on the work. Either way, it's been a pleasurable experience, and entire staff over at Sweetleaf has been great. I also have to thank Rich and Nikkita for this gig.
If you're in Brooklyn, the shop is at 135 Kent Ave. on the south-east corner of Kent and North 6th Street, a couple blocks west of the Bedford Ave. stop on the L train.
I'll have more photos when the piece is done. Also, I'll post some more detail shots.

Two pages of mini-comic

I started work on this five page mini-comic. I still like the idea, but want to draw it on a bigger format. Something where I can really show off some ideas. Since that might be a while I wanted to post the two pages that did get drawn. I expect to return to this idea soon.

A New Mini Comic

I'm starting work on a new five page comic. It'll have a new main character and a lot more of a real narrative to it then most of my previous work. The plan is to have all five pages done in the next couple weeks. Until then, I thought I'd just post the first panel from the story.

I'll post the entire story, once it's completed.

40 Days in Time and Space - Page 9

The latest page is done.
The entire thing, so far, can be seen over here.

Really pushing to get the next page done soon. I hope it stays simpler then these last 3 pages have gotten.

40 Days in Time and Space - Page 8

Regular work is back on track, so here's page 8. The next couple pages should be around shortly, definitely before the end of the month.

Also, a couple sketches from while I was on vacation.

40 Days in Time and Space - Page 07

Not dead... yet.
I know it's been a while since the last page was completed, but things are back on track. I hope you enjoy this new page in the series.

All the previous pages can be found here.

Illustration Station 008 - A few small drawings

These are a few 2.5 in. x 3.5 in. drawings I've been doing over the past week. I wanted to work at a similar level of detail without having the space to develop a large, complex drawing.

Illustration Station 007 - A Couple Random Items

I tried to start this story, but I just drew the first page. It was really just something to get me working again. Maybe the rest of the story will come to me eventually. Maybe somebody else has a good idea on where to go from here.

Also, I did this flyer for a friend of mine. The show is long past, but I thought I'd still put the artwork up here.

Tales from the Sketchbook 024 - new sketches

Some sketches from the last 5 days
Also, I came across a photo of Harvey Pekar, and I figured I'd give a shot at sketching a portrait of somebody who's been drawn by so many comic legends.

Tales from the Sketchbook 023 - Day 37

Didn't really like that sketch that I put on the first page so I changed it up a little with some Kirby influence.

Tales from the Sketchbook 014 - Day 18

Still playing around with ideas for a bigger illustration. I like juxtaposing a simple figure with a simple silhouette against a very detailed and busy background. Maybe having the figure in color with the background in blocked-in grays. I just don't know if this is the background for the figure I've got in mind, or if I should come up with a new figure idea. I can always save the one I have in mind for later. Questions that can only be answered with more sketches.

Tales from the Sketchbook 012 - Day 13

Still playing around with environments and refineries. This sketch is a little more of a narrative piece, maybe something to build up into a full illustration.
I really do love the aesthetic quality of refineries. The grow out and build up like a biological process, that's so unique to architecture.

Tales from the Sketchbook 011 - day 12

New sketch for some kind of industrial, refinery type of city.

Tales from the Sketchbook 005 - Day 5

Playing with the idea of the city of robots for the next few pages of the Action Man Adventures. Thinking about how to keep scaling up the size of the robots as the view of the city widens out. I doubt I'll have much more figured out until I get to the page itself. Still gotta finish the page I'm on, first.
